Prisoner Tyler Perry Jamie Foxx Skank Robbers

Fact is indeed stranger than fiction. Shamont Lyle Sapp–a prisoner serving time in Oklahoma for 10 bank robberies–has filed a lawsuit against Jamie Foxx and Tyler Perry claiming that he gave them the idea for “Skank Robbers” but was cut out of the project. According to court documents, Sapp says he came up with the idea to reunite Sheneneh (Martin Lawrence), Wanda (Foxx) and Madea (Perry) into one movie. But Sapp’s original concept wasn’t a bank robbery.

The top 10 tech stories of 2011

2011 is almost over and that means that we're gonna take a little break from tech news and relax until the spring. Just kidding! What the end of the year really means is that we're getting a bit sentimental and reviewing the top tech stories of the last 365 days. Here are the 10 which stood out to us, in no particular order.

The death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs

When Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died on Oct. 5, at age 56, the loss resonated throughout the tech world in unprecedented ways. He was described as our generation's Thomas Edison and his legacy was celebrated accordingly. The Internet mourned the passing of the man with over 2.5 million tweets in the twelve hours following his death. People around the world sent over one million emails filled with wishes, memories and words of sympathy to an address set up by Apple.

Samsung and Google, some of the company's competitors, delayed the release of new products out of respect for the loss of the man who launched Apple.

As his eponymous biography by Walter Isaacson hit the shelves, we dissected everything about Jobs from minutia — such as his final words, eating habits, reading list, workaholic nature and old pranks — to grand concepts such as his life's work. It is worth noting that the Jobs biography became Amazon's best-selling book of 2011 and Sony Pictures is said to be working on a movie version.

Breastfeeding flash mobs

On December 8th, Claire Jones-Hughes invited mothers to participate in a breastfeeding flash mob. She'd been told to stop feeding her baby in a cafe and was fed up. As the founder of Brightonmums.com, she tapped into her online community to spread the word. "We have chosen a central public venue, where there is space to be seated but also be noticed," she wrote.

And, she followed up with a purposeful column in The Guardian.

"After being verbally attacked for not covering up while feeding my four-month-old, I decided it was time to make a statement to show that mothers will no longer tolerate being harassed for feeding our babies in public."

That day, 40 moms showed up at the Clock Tower and breastfed their babies in front of Christmas shoppers.

The event wasn't the first of its kind in the UK: "Women in both London and Manchester staged flash mobs for National Breastfeeding Awareness week in June. But it is part of a growing trend," Jones-Hughes wrote.

Titanic anniversary cruise 2012

Titanic anniversary cruise 2012- A cruise company is marking the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic by recreating the doomed voyage. British company Titanic Memorial Cruises is taking passengers on 12-night cruise aboard the Fred Olsen liner Balmoral in April 2012 and the trip will take the same route as the
Titanic.

Although the cruise will broadly follow Titanic’s itinerary, it will leave Southampton on April 8, two days earlier than the 1912 voyage, because the 20-knot, 617ft Balmoral is slower than the 23-knot, 882ft Titanic.

It will also have the same number of passengers on board as in the original voyage.

Yeti finger human mystery

The mystery of a yeti finger taken from Nepal half a century ago has been solved with the help of scientists at Edinburgh Zoo.

The mummified remains have been held in the Royal College of Surgeons museum in London since the 1950s.

A DNA sample analysed by the zoo's genetic expert Dr Rob Ogden has finally revealed the finger's true origins.

Following DNA tests it has found to be human bone.

The yeti, also known as the Abominable Snowman, is a legendary giant ape-like creature said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet.

Woman fence pet elephant
The L.A. Zoo just spent $42 million on a snazzy new sanctuary to contain its elephants -- but it seems the sanctuary's fencing might not be enough to contain excited onlookers from crossing in the opposite direction.

Yesterday, an unidentified woman who was reportedly off her meds "went in to kind of check the elephants out," Branden Adams, a nice-mannered kid who witnessed the break-in, tells KTLA. "She comes out and she says, 'I'm going to go pet the elephants now.' And she goes and she started touching the elephants and seeing what they were doing." Adams' cellphone video shows the elephant-ite hopping the cord, ambling around the desert habitat for a spell -- then finally getting her pet on, albeit cautiously. KTLA reports that the particular beasts subjected to her strange love -- for five full minutes! -- were Jewel and Tina, the zoo's newest elephants.

Mythbusters cannonball shoots through house

Mythbusters cannonball shoots through house aiming for water-filled garbage cans, residents sleeping. A cannonball fired by TV's "Mythbusters" team during an experiment soared through a California house, but didn't injure anyone, the Los Angeles Times reported.

People working on the Discovery Channel show Tuesday launched the cannonball from a bomb range in Dublin, about 35 miles east of San Francisco, expecting it to hit a target made of trash cans. Instead, the cannonball zipped through a house 700 yards away, leaving a 10-inch hole in the bedroom wall as the homeowners slept, then struck the roof of another house and bounced across four lanes of traffic before finally crashing through the window of a parked minivan, the Times said.

Aerosmith Steven Tyler

Shortly after Erin Brady, girlfriend of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, flashed a sizable diamond ring on her hand while in Maui on Christmas day, rumors of disgruntlement among Tyler's family members are being leaked to the press.

TMZ reports that Tyler's family were unaware of the alleged engagement and are no fan of the 38-year-old Brady, who has been dating the 63-year-old "American Idol" judge since 2006.

Among the reasons cited are that Brady is "just not nice" and has been "mean to the family."

The alleged engagement would be the third marriage for the rocker, who recently told Oprah Winfrey on the OWN channel that he was "ashamed" of his womanizing past. Holding hands with Brady, Tyler appeared earnest about turning a new leaf and said it was possible for him to be monogamous.

"I don't want to hurt anybody again. For all the divorces I've had, I've hurt those girls deeply. There was some behavior that I'm ashamed of and I shouldn't have done," Tyler said.

American Idol
American Idol' contestant whose wife died gets engaged, Danny Gokey is set to wed again, three years after losing his wife following heart surgery. The "American Idol" third-place finisher is engaged to Leyicet Peralta, People reports via Sophia's Heart, the website for a charity dedicated to Mr. Gokey's late wife. According to the website, Mr. Gokey and Ms. Peralta will marry next month. "He is thrilled to have found Leyicet who also shares his passion and desire to help children and families in need," the site reads, EW.com reports.

American Idol judge engaged
"American Idol" judge Steven Tyler, 63, reportedly is getting married for the third time.  Tyler, who also is Aerosmith’s sometime frontman, reportedly gave his longtime girlfriend, Erin Brady, 38, a diamond ring. It seems as though we have some rather rockin' news for Steven Tyler -- after dating his longtime girlfriend Erin Brady since 2006, it appears as though the "American Idol" judge is taking the next step.

According to a new report from TMZ, Tyler was spotted out recently with Brady, and she was wearing what definitely appeared to be an engagement ring. However, no one from Tyler's camp has yet to confirm the news.

Drake on fan's forehead tat
Drake on fan's forehead tat. No one could rightfully say that Drake’s fans won’t go to great lengths to prove their devotion. Last week, a photo of a young Los Angeles woman with shaved eyebrows and the all-caps word “DRAKE” tattooed on her forehead, caused many to wonder about the motivation behind the garish tat. Drake, now aware of the furor surrounding the tattoo, has addressed the artist, Kevin Campbell, and even threatened to, um, rough him up.

In a brief interview with Los Angeles’ Power 106 on-air personality Mando Fresko, the Canadian superstar spoke on the infamous tattoo and voiced his disdain for the artist responsible for the artwork. “I want to meet her and understand what happened,” said a flabbergasted Drake. “That’s cool, though. I feel you a 100 percent. That, to me, is like
absolutely incredible.”

Drake continued with, “The guy who tatted is a f---ing –shole though, I will tell you that. I don’t f--- with that guy. F--- you to that tat artist by the way. And you should lose your job and should never do tattoos again and I don’t f--- with you. And if I ever see you, I’m
a f--- you up.”

Drake did calm down a bit and seemed humbled by the fact the woman saw fit to adorn herself with his name. “But real sh-- though, I really like…I want to talk to this girl and understand it all. It’s surreal.”

In his defense, the tattoo artist said that he tried to reason with the woman: She was really psyched about it. She had the sh---y font all picked out on her iPhone ready to go and was pretty adamant about putting it on her forehead. She didn't say a word about what it meant to her,” Campbell recalled. “…She acted as if she had planned it out for a while; though I'm not really sure how much extended coherent thought could actually go into getting such a stupid tattoo on your forehead.”

“In my opinion this whole world's going to sh--, and sh-- rolls downhill,” Campbell added. “So I might as well just jump in, hold my breath, and pray to God that there's a nice big soft puddle of diarrhea for me to land in once everything hits the fan.”

Jimmy Hoffa GM headquarters
Jimmy Hoffa GM headquarters. A new book claims that Jimmy Hoffa was buried in the concrete foundation under Detroit's Renaissance Center in 1975.
General Motors began using the "RenCen" as its world headquarters in 1996.
The time line and Michigan location make the RenCen a more likely resting place for the Teamsters leader than other rumored locations like the Florida Everglades or Giants Stadium in New Jersey's Meadowlands.

New York, New York — A new book claims that the remains of Teamsters Union leader James R. "Jimmy" Hoffa were buried under the foundation of the then under-construction Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan after his disappearance and presumed assassination in 1975. That's right, GM's headquarters may be the tomb of Jimmy Hoffa.

The new book, entitled "The Weasel: A Double Life in the Mob" (Wiley; November 2011), is the story of Marvin Elkind who describes himself as a "chauffer and goon for mob bosses" and was written by Elkind and journalist Adrian Humphries. In a Christmas Day interview with The New York Post Elkind claims to have learned the whereabouts of Hoffa's body during a Teamsters conference held in Detroit in 1985 — a decade after the labor leader's notorious disappearance on July 30, 1975 from the parking lot of the Machus Red Fox Restaurant in Bloomfield Township outside of Detroit.

Hoffa was reportedly at the restaurant waiting to meet Anthony "Tony Jack" Giacalone, who had ties to both the Teamsters and organized crime, and mobster Anthony "Tony Pro" Provenzano.

According to the new book, during the 1985 Teamster's conference Elkind and a group of other Teamsters were with Giacalone crossing a glass-walled walkway connecting the Omni International Hotel to the Renaissance Center when Giacalone nodded toward the complex and invited the group to "Say good morning to Jimmy Hoffa, boys." The Omni International Hotel was later remodeled and reopened as the Courtyard Downtown Detroit.

In the Post's interview, Elkind adds that once Hoffa's body was added to the RenCen's foundation "there was a mad rush to get the concrete poured."

Since Hoffa disappeared in Michigan it makes some murderous logistical sense to kill him and dispose of his body there. At least more sense than transporting Hoffa to New Jersey to bury his body under the west end zone of Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands which was also then being built. Before Giants Stadium was demolished in 2010, the television show Mythbusters investigated the Hoffa burial legend there and couldn't find any evidence of such an entombment.

All this adds irony upon irony to the seven-building RenCen. Though it was originally conceived of by Henry Ford II, and originally contained my Ford Motor Company offices when it opened in 1977, it became General Motors' world headquarters after being sold to GM in 1996. And now that GM is largely owned by the United Auto Workers, it turns out the RenCen may be built upon a foundation that includes one of labor's most famous leaders.

Richard Nixon gay rumors
Richard Nixon gay rumors. Former US president Richard Nixon had a gay affair with his best friend, a Mafia-connected Florida wheeler-dealer named Charles ‘Bebe’ Rebozo, according to a new biography by Don Fulsom.

Fulsom, a veteran Washington reporter who covered the Nixon years, also insists that the 37th U.

S. President had a serious drink problem, beat his wife and by the time he was inaugurated in 1969 had links going back two decades to the Mafia, including with New Orleans godfather Carlos Marcello, then America’s most powerful mobster.

Bebe Rebozo was a short, swarthy, good-looking Cuban-American businessman with a history of failed relationships with women and close alliances with Miami’s Mafia chiefs, the Daily Mail reported.ulsom has used recently revealed documents and eyewitness interviews including with FBI agents to shed new light on long-standing doubts among White House insiders that Nixon may have been a more than just good pal with Rebozo.

He asserts that Nixon’s relationship with Pat, his wife of 53 years, was little more than a pretence. A heavy drinker whom his own staff dubbed ‘Our Drunk’, Nixon used to call his First Lady a ‘f***ing bitch’ and hit her before, during and after his presidency.

The couple had separate bedrooms at the White House and in Key Biscayne, the exclusive resort near Miami where Nixon holidayed. Mrs Nixon did not even used to sleep in the same building, however Rebozo, was in the house next door.

Fulsom also claims that one of Nixon’s former military aides had a covert job ‘to teach the President how to kiss his wife’ so that they would look like a convincing couple.

Fulsom has quoted a former Time magazine reporter who, at a Washington dinner, bent down to pick up a fork and saw the two holding hands under the table.

It was, the reporter judged, amply intimate to suggest ‘repressed homosexuality’.

Another journalist revealed how, loosened up by drink, Nixon once put his arm around Rebozo ‘the way you’d cuddle your senior prom date. Something was fishy there’.

Rebozo even became an ‘uncle figure’ to the Nixons’ two daughters, Tricia and Julie. The dapper Cuban-American selected Nixon’s clothes and even selected the films he watched at the White House.

On Nixon’s solo visits to Key Biscayne, they swam and sunbathed, indulging in their shared passions for discussing Broadway musicals and barbecuing steaks.

When Nixon became President, Rebozo was given his own office and bedroom at the White House, and a security clearance that permitted him to go in and out without being logged by the secret service.

Using a false name, says Fulsom, Rebozo even got into Nixon’s hotel suite during a trip to Europe.

The President’s closest colleagues criticized the way Rebozo monopolised Nixon’s time.

The book, Nixon’s Darkest Secrets: The Inside Story Of America’s Most Troubled President will be out on January 31, 2012.

Woman eats too much 911
Woman eats too much 911. This Christmas season Mary Ellen Lisee just couldn’t help herself…
Kids, let’s admit it we’ve all been there. A long over due family gathering, lots of wonderful company and of course lots of delicious food and after all you were keeping up with your diet until recently so how were you going to resist another helping? After all what’s an extra drumstick amongst friends? That said, let’s unzip a few buttons to help get the blood circulating and let’s all drop by Mary Ellen’s motel room where she literally stuffed her face with….well, let’s keep you in suspense for a moment.

theweeklyvice: Mary Ellen Lisee, a 45-year-old Fort Pierce woman was jailed Sunday after she allegedly called 911 because she “ate too much”.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, officers was dispatched to the Traveler’s Inn motel in Fort Pierce on a report of a 911 hang-up.

When police arrived on the scene, a woman was yelling and jumping around in her room. The woman’s boyfriend was exiting the room, and told police he was leaving to get some peace and quiet because she “could not stop talking.

When officers entered the hotel room, the woman, identified as Lisee, stated that she had called 911 because she “ate too much food” that evening. Officers noted that she smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated.

Whiskey, drumstick? Who can really tell the difference when you’re having one whale of a good time. Not Mary Ellen that’s for sure…

But it gets better. It always gets better in a down and out motel room with the smell of Jim Bean wafting out into the corridor and your crazed boyfriend who’s doing hula loops in the car park pleading with Baby Jesus to just get out of this one alive…

When officers asked her to write a statement, she wrote: “My name is Mary Ellen Lisee. I have beaten, I believe in God, and He forgives me. I may joke, but I do not do crack. I will not for as long as I live.”

Hmm, that sounds a little convoluted to me. Shall we try this one more time:

‘My name is Mary Gypsy Lee. I have drunken, I believe in Baby Jesus, and he always applauds me. I may joke, but I do not do crack. I will never not for another 7 minutes. Do you mind passing me the pipe behind the chicken nugget on the floor?’

Now that does sound more reasonable doesn’t it?

When officers asked Lisee to swear the statement to be true, she refused and was apprehended. Her address is listed as the hotel.

Lisee was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail and charged with disorderly conduct.

Shouldn’t you watch how much of the good shit you smoke eat this Christmas too…?

Kim K. gets 600K to party
Kim K. gets 600K to party. He popularity may have waned in recent weeks following her failed 72 day marriage to former husband Kris Humphries.
But Kim Kardashian is still apparently very bankable, and is set to rake in the big bucks for hosting an upcoming New Year's Eve party.
The 31-year-old reality star is reportedly being paid $600,000 to help ring in the New Year at Tao nightclub in Las Vegas this weekend, according to RadarOnline.

But Kim will have to do a little more work than just one night, because the large wad of cash is part of a multi-event deal.
Kim is not the only one getting paid a pretty penny for their hosting duties.
Vegas regular and former Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie will earn a cool $100,000 for performing at new nightclub 1Oak at the Mirage Hotel and Casino, according to The New York Post.
But other celebrities aren't so lucky.
A whole slew of other stars were reportedly in talks for deals, but many of them fell through because the A-listers were demanding too much money for appearances.

According to a source that told the Post, Katy Perry failed to fetch the $250,000 price tag she demanded to play for one night.
P. Diddy was apparently close to signing a deal with Hyde nightclub in Miami, but after they didn't meet his expectations, he rejected their offer.
Meanwhile huge money sums have reportedly been thrown at Ashton Kutcher.
But the Two And A Half Men star, who recently split from his wife Demi Moore following allegations of cheating, has allegedly turned them all down.

She may be a new mother of twins, but Mariah Carey was said to be keen to perform on the big night.
But after her people search the globe for a $500,000 deal, they didn't find any takers.
'She’s not doing any New Year events. She’ll be in Aspen with her family,' he rep told The Post.
Kim's hefty deal comes after her popularity suffered a huge blow following her short-lived marriage to ex-husband Humphires.
Many accused the reality star of using the marriage as a publicity stunt and a way to cash in through TV rights and magazine deals.

And her popularity seemingly took another dip last week after animal rights group PETA launched a billboard campaign slating the star's love of fur coats.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians favourite has regularly been spotted wearing such jackets this year, despite already being chastened by the group, who named her their worst dressed person of 2010.
And in the emotive ad the group has a cute picture of two fox cubs, with the statement: 'Kim These babies miss their mother. Is she on your back.'
In addition to the adverts, he animal rights organisation has also Kim on their website.
PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said: 'Kim knows that animals on fur farms are beaten, electrocuted, and often skinned alive.
'We've explained it to her, and she's watched a video expose that was filmed inside fur farms.

'When Kim is ready to put an end to her relationship with fur, PETA will be happy to take her discards and donate them to the homeless.'
Ironically Kim turned out to support a PETA campaign poster AGAINST fur which featured her sister Khloe earlier this year.
She posed with her sister next to the 2008 Fur? I'd Rather Go Naked picture in 2008, after her younger sibling stripped off for the charity.
It is the second time in recent days the Kardashians have been involved in a fashion flare-up.
It was claimed the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights had criticised the family for using Chinese sweatshop labour to produce their fashion lines.

However the group's executive director Charles Kernaghan later spoke out to say the allegations could not be proved, that he had been speaking about conditions in the country in general, and that his words had been twisted.
He did speak out again last night to say: 'If Ms. Kardashian has found a way to overcome the iron-fisted repression under which the Chinese workers are forced to toil, then that would be huge news and worthy of tremendous applause.
'But unfortunately, based on our concrete experiences investigating factories in China and elsewhere, the chances are about one in a million that Ms. Kardashian has found a way to push back against the Chinese authorities and guarantee that her employees will be afforded their most basic, internationally recognized workers' rights.'

Rapper rumors spark mall melee
Rapper rumors spark mall melee.  Rumors that rap superstars Drake and Lil Wayne were visiting Minnesota's Mall of America may have sparked Monday’s massive brawl at the giant retail center, a local TV station said.Ten people have been arrested after 200 young people rampaged through Minnesota's packed Mall of America on the busiest shopping day of the year.
The mob sent frightened shoppers scrambling for safety as 10 fights broke out at the same time, forcing some stores to shut.
Brawls started after rumours swept the mall in Bloomington that rappers Lil’ Wayne and Drake were visiting.

Rapper rumors spark mall melee
A group of 50 youngsters were filmed on cell phone cameras throwing dining chairs at each other in the food court.
Video captured police officers walking with their guns drawn, but they later said this was in response to reports of gun shots being fired.Several witnesses said the melee had elements of a 'smash and grab' flash mob, including heavy use of mobiles.
It took 30 police and mall security staff more than an hour to restore order - with 10 juveniles and young adults held on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

The violence erupted at about 4:20pm yesterday when a fight began involving a large group in the food court and quickly spread through the nation’s largest mall.
Bloomington police Commander Mark Stehlik confirmed that some groups were as large as 100 people and more than 200 may have been involved.
But there were no reports of any stolen goods.
Several stores, including Nordstrom, closed internal gates to the mall court, and a few stayed closed for the evening. For a few minutes the mall was inadvertently put in total lockdown.

Witness Makenzie Shofner, 15, of Maple Plain, told the Star Tribune: 'I saw a massive group of peopl. It looked like they were trying to pull people's stuff out of their bags. My heart was racing.'
Brianna Berg, 32, of Coon Rapids, was going down an escalator when a large group of young people rushed up behind her.
'I had to hold on tight. I was almost knocked down,' she said.

Some witnesses reported being evacuated from the mall, but police said shoppers were escorted toward the east exit to make room for the investigation.
A mall spokesman said: 'It is very unfortunate to see these incidents occurring, especially during the holiday shopping season when families are out spending time together.'

Hef, ex in puppy custody battle
Hef, ex in puppy custody battle.  Divorce and break-ups aren't the prettiest things, but what happens when you add pets to the mix? Well, things can, apparently, get downright ugly.

See the latest example, which comes in the form of celebrities Hugh Hefner, the founder of the lucrative Playboy Enterprises, and his ex-fiance, former Playboy model Crystal Harris. According to a report by People, the two are engaged in a custody battle, but not the traditional one you might think of; these two are fighting over who should retain permanent ownership of their shared puppy Charlie, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.

Hefner, 85, and Harris, 25, broke off their engagement in early June 2011. Despite the time lapse between the broken engagement and present time, the two are still quarreling over who should have permanent ownership of the puppy.

Hefner jokingly made remarks that if "she wants to keep the ring and the Bentley, then maybe I can keep the puppy." Maybe he's right...or not.
Pictured above are Hugh Hefner and his ex-fiance, Crystal Harris. The two are currently engaged in a custody battle over who should retain permanent ownership over their shared King Charles Cavalier Spaniel puppy, Charlie.

Medieval knights PTSD
Medieval knights PTSD, Medieval knights had PTSD? They jousted, were constantly sleep-deprived and had to brave the elements. Now, at least one medieval scholar says knights may have suffered from PTSD. In movies, medieval knights are portrayed as courageous and loyal heroes who will fight to the death without fear or regret. In reality, the lives of knights were filled with a litany of stresses much like those that modern soldiers deal with.

They were often sleep-deprived, exhausted and malnourished. They slept outside on hard ground, fully exposed to whatever weather befell them. And their lives were full of horror and carnage as they regularly killed other men and watched their friends die.

Faced with the trauma inherent in a life of combat, according to a new look at ancient texts, medieval knights sometimes struggled with despair, fear, powerlessness and delusions. Some may have even suffered from post-traumatic stress or related disorders, argues a Danish researcher, just as their modern-day counterparts do.

Amish girl killed by stray bullet.  A man cleaning his muzzle-loading rifle shot the gun into the air, accidentally killing a 15-year-old Amish girl driving a horse-drawn buggy more than a mile away, a sheriff said Tuesday.
Rachel Yoder was shot in the head Thursday night while traveling to her home in Wayne County, between Columbus and Akron. She had attended a Christmas party for employees, most of them under 18 years old, at an Amish produce farm and was riding home alone when she was shot, Wayne County sheriff's Capt. Douglas Hunter said.

Hunter said his department had traced a trail of blood along the road for about three-eighths of a mile into Holmes County in an area of farms and rolling hills.

Holmes County Sheriff Timothy Zimmerly said investigators figured out what happened after the gun-cleaner's family came forward and after his neighbors reported hearing a shot at about the time the girl was wounded.

The man had fired the gun in the air about 1.5 miles from where Yoder was shot, Zimmerly said. State investigators were checking the rifle for a ballistics match, he said.

"In all probability, it looks like an accidental shooting," Zimmerly said.

Pen stomach 25 years.  The pen is mightier than the sword, so the saying goes. But in the case of an elderly British woman, a pen is also mightier than one’s stomach acid.
An unidentified 76-year-old woman had a pen stuck inside her stomach for the past 25 years, according to a report in the British Medical Journal. Doctors at a hospital in Exeter found the pen on a CT scan when the patient came to the hospital complaining of weight loss and diarrhea.
The patient told her doctors that 25 years ago, she was using the pen to inspect a spot on her tonsils when she slipped, fell and accidentally swallowed the pen. Her physician husband didn’t believe her story but took an x-ray of her stomach, which showed nothing inside of her.
So the pen remained in her stomach for over two decades, causing the woman no symptoms at all.
“The stomach does not have an extensive sensory innervation and the felt tip pen was blunt,” Dr. Oliver Waters, a gastroenterologist who treated the woman, told ABC News. “So if the pen was not damaging the stomach this would explain the patient’s lack of symptoms.”
When Waters and his colleagues fished the pen out of its gastrointestinal hiding place, they found that it still wrote clearly.
“Normally the stomach acid will disintegrate things like the inside of a pen,” Dr. Steven Moss, a gastroenterologist at Rhode Island Hospital, told ABC News. “For the tip to be still intact with ink after 25 years is amazing.”
Doctors say the patient is probably lucky she chose a felt-tip pen to probe her tonsils. Something sharper, such as a ballpoint pen, could have cut into the lining of her stomach and allowed the gut’s bacteria to seep into the rest of her body. On the other hand, a ballpoint pen might have been easier for doctors to detect from the start.

Britney ex says engagement fake. Looks like someone still holds it against her! Britney Spears’ first husband, Jason Alexander (not the Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame), tells Us Magazine exactly what he thinks about Brit-Brit’s engagement to the other Jason in her life, longtime beau Jason Trawick: "I think it's fake and I think people are afraid to say it." Them be fightin’ words!

Jason, a childhood friend of Britney’s from Louisiana, was once married to the pop star for 55 hours. Their marriage was later annulled, but it sounds like Jason’s still waiting for Britney to email him his heart back, to paraphrase her 1999 single.

"If you look at all the pictures between them there is no connection," says Jason No. 1. "It seems like an answer to the court thing." Jason Trawick used to be Britney’s manager, post-breakdown and head-shaving. Brit has been under Daddy’s thumb (read: conservatorship) since 2008. According to E!, Jason No. 2 was legally bound to ask Jamie Spears for permission. (Spoiler alert: We think he said yes!)

Jason says it’s only fitting that she married her former manager. "That way she always has someone controlling her. It's sort of sad." Sounds like Jason’s watched Britney’s “Lucky” music video one too many times. “She’s so lucky, she’s a star…”

Mayan 'Year of Doom' begin
Mayan 'Year of Doom' begins. Maya astronomers knew long ago that there would be intense solar activity in the year the world now calls 2012.  Mayan 'Year of Doom' begins , suggests that December 21, 2011 would begin a year of horrors that would culminate in the Earth’s destruction on December 21, 2012.
There is more to the story, Perhaps in their revulsion toward the high-jacking of Maya culture by profit making ventures and psuedo-religious sects, archaeologists are not telling the public the full story. Maya astronomers DID know that the early 21st century would be time of violent weather, which would peak in 2012. Such dangerous periods have happened like clockwork through the ages.
The indigenous peoples of the Western Hemisphere were clever folks. Although the ubiquitous 52 year century they used was based on the period required for the solar and lunar calendars to complete their mutual cycles, it also marks 1/8th of the 416 year cycle of the sun. The sun’s peak production of heat energy occurs every 416 years. Alternatively, one could say that the periods when the earth receives the least warmth from the sun occur every 416 years.

In either case, there is proof of the sun’s impact on weather, and human history. The last period of maximum solar activity was in the late 1500s and early 1600s, with the peak at 1595. Most of the towns visited by Hernando de Soto in 1540-42 disappeared during a period of extreme drought in the Southeast during the last 20 years of the 16th century. The Roanoke Island Colony probably disappeared because of this drought, while the Jamestown Colony almost failed because of this drought.

During the previous period of maximum solar intensity (mid-12th century) the Toltec Empire collapsed, the enormous town on the Ocmulgee River in Georgia was abandoned, all the Native towns around Lake Okeechobee, FL were abandoned and horrific droughts devastated the Anasazi culture in the Southwest. However, the warmth was beneficial to northern European farmers. English farmers were able to grow grapes and make commercial quality wines in the 12th century.

The late 20th century and early 21st century saw several record-breaking storms and earthquakes, while the American Southwest is experiencing an ever worsening drought. This is exactly what Maya astronomers and priests expected each 416 years. On the peak year of solar activity, 2012, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has predicted very dangerous solar flares.

A solar flare blast can knock out satellites, land-based communication systems, regional power grids, mainframe computers, cable TV networks and even the computers that operate modern automobiles. In truth, there is potential for major damage being done to the world’s economy in 2012 because of natural catastrophes, but it is not likely to be hurricanes the size of nations or asteroids simultaneously striking several locations on earth as portrayed in the movies.

Of course, as soon as such statements as above are published, one can expect 20 inches of snow at Miami Beach on Christmas morning. Mother Nature is ultimately, a very unpredictable lady.

An elderly man drove for 225 miles with the body of his dead wife beside him in the passenger seat.
The Canadian couple were returning home early from a holiday in Oregon after the 75-year-old woman had begun experiencing health problems.
But she died during the journey close to the town of Pasco, Washington.

Her 71-year-old husband told police that he had carried on driving because he simply didn't know what to do.
About 20 miles south of Canada he pulled over to call authorities to find out whether he could cross the border with her.

The motorists' emergency system OnStar put him in touch with dispatchers in Okanogan County who persuaded him to stop in the town of Tonasket.
Local Police Chief Robert Burks said: 'He wasn't sure what to do, so he kept driving.
'I believe that different permits have to get done to get a body across. I think that’s all they’re waiting for'
The woman was taken to the North Valley Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police said they are not treating her death as suspicious but taking a body across the border requires certain paperwork.
The woman's body will remain in the U.S. until it can be legally transported across the border.

The children were making the sign with their hands to indicate a twinkling star as they sang along to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, when staff asked them to use a different gesture - prompting a furious response from one parent.

The disgruntled mother said: "It seems a little politically correct. These are innocent little children just making a sign to show a star. No-one would give it a second thought. Now every parent may worry their child may be making an offensive gesture when they're singing this song."

A spokeswoman for City of York Council, who are responsible for the Sure Start mother and toddler group in Acomb, York, denied it was a case of political correctness, insisting it was more "a sensible decision taken to prevent deaf children or deaf parents being offended by the use of the gesture".

Retail giant H&M has been accused of glamorising rape after unveiling its Girl With A Dragon Tattoo collection. The range, inspired by the film of the same name, features leather jackets, hoodies, mini-skirts and boots, all in the edgy style of the protagonist Lisbeth Salander.

Salander, played by Hollywood actress Rooney Mara, is traumatised by a violent rape, yet transforms from victim to avenger in the hit Steig Larsson adaptation.

Tattoo clothing under fire
Lisbeth Salander is a rape victim, an abuse survivor and a heroine in the "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," and the fictional character will also become a style icon if the clothing line by H&M is any indication.

The clothing line that sold out in Los Angeles in ten minutes, according to the designer, is under fire by blogger Natalie Karneef who wrote a blog item titled "An Open Letter to H&M from a Rape Survivor": "…H&M, you have created a line of clothing based on her character: a woman who has suffered a lifetime of abuse, who is violently raped, and who is hunting down a man who violently rapes and kills other women."

"Lisbeth has been through hell, and her clothing is her armor. That's her choice, and it's an understandable choice. But you glamorize it, putting a glossy, trendy finish on the face of sexual violence and the rage and fear it leaves behind."

Fliers to profile seatmates?

Flying alone is like playing seatmate lottery, with the certainty that you ae going to be sandwiched between two complete strangers.

But one airline is trying to change that, by putting travellers in control of finding seatmates who share common interests.

Dutch airline, KLM plans to pilot a “meet and seat” service next year that allows fliers to choose their seats based on the Facebook and Linkedin profiles of fellow travellers.

It aims to work by linking peopleĆ¢€™s profiles to their check-in information when they check-in online.

There will be an opt-out option for flyers who do not wish to share their profile information.

KLM says it is still working on the final details and has not revealed if it might charge for the service, which has been hailed by some as mile-high “match-making”.

Many travellers have taken to Twitter to share their views on the new travel buddy service, with some embracing the idea and others calling it “creepy.”

@declanjbarry tweeted: “this is just a terrible idea” and @morgonzola said: “the new Facebook ‘meet and seat’ booking option could be fun or a disaster”, while @oconnorcolleen called it “a new level of social stalking.”

KLM is not the only airline to engage with social media to help passengers find seatmates.

Malaysian Airlines Facebook service “MHBuddy” lets passengers see if they have friends on their flight or who are headed to the same destination.

Travellers can complete a full travel booking through Facebook  from purchasing flights, checking-in and seat selection, to sharing flight itineraries with friends.
